DIVAN – counselling for migrant women

Women-specific counselling for migrant women with specialised services for victims of violence in the name of honour and forced marriage.

Violence in the name of honour is violence that is perpetrated to preserve or restore the so-called "family honour". Forced marriage is a marriage against the will of (at least) one spouse, through massive psychological pressure and/or the threat or use of violence. Young girls are most often affected.

Divan continues to offer mother-tongue counselling and support for women with a migration background and is also gladly available as a contact point for coaching on the topic of "Violence in the Name of Honour" for all organisations and institutions that may have to deal increasingly with cases of domestic violence in the coming weeks!

We want all women to be able to live self-determined, informed and without violence!

Therefore, we advise and accompany women and girls with a migration background who are threatened or affected by violence in the name of honour, especially forced marriage.

We provide counselling to affected women in the following languages in their mother tongue:

Arabic; Turkish; Farsi/Dari; Kurdish; French; English; Russian; Somali

and if required also in other languages with interpreter!

Our services include:

  • Crisis intervention
  • Social, psychosocial counselling and support
  • psychological counselling and stabilisation
